Replatting of land acquired to build Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue Station 56 on SW 18th Street in Boca Raton has meant the creation of a new 15-foot wide landscape buffer on the former owner’s property, SPTMRT Properties Trust.
County commissioners said the 1.9 acres purchased for the new fire station was a portion of the larger Stratford Court II, planned unit development (PUD) containing a total of 22.97 acres. Part of the original agreement required the county to replat the entire Stratford Court II, PUD. Both the county and developer will sign the plat as property owners.
The replatting now also necessitates a landscape buffer, and a temporary construction easement, recently approved by commissioners. SPTMRT will maintain the 15 foot landscape buffer area, said commissioners.
When built, the new $3 million fire rescue station will be a county operated, maintained and funded service, and is not connected with the city, according to Assistant City Manager Mike Woika.
Commissioners paid $321,000 to SPTMRT Properties Trust a Maryland Real Estate Investment Trust. Expected completion date for the two-bay, 5,900 square foot rescue station is September 2008, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) Captain and Public Information Officer Don DeLucia.
The new station will begin with a three-man crew, DeLucia said, and operating a rescue pumper. However, the facility has “room for expansion,” DeLucia said, “to make it a typical five-man station.”
