“Ar(t)chitectural Attitude” is the theme for a Fall/Winter 2008 Palm Beach County Art in Public Places program four-month exhibit at Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA).
A call for county residents who are visual artists has been issued to submit artwork to be considered for the Sept. 24, 2008 – Feb. 4, 2009 exhibit.
Program Director Elayna Toby Singer said artists are invited to submit works that artistically portray the historic landmarks and modern icons of Palm Beach County’s built landscape. “In order for entries to be considered for selection, the content presented must reflect the exhibition theme,” she said, adding:
“It could be historical, or current, as long as the artist captures the theme.”
Artists may obtain a copy of the Call to Artists by sending an email request to esinger@pbcgov.org, or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Palm Beach County Art in Public Places, 2633 Vista Parkway, West Palm Beach, FL 33411.
Deadline for entry is Sept. 11; acceptance notification will be by Sept. 19, and with artwork delivery by 11 am and exhibition installation Sept. 24.
Singer said the Palm Beach County Art in Public Places program is managed by the county Facilities Development and Operations Department, adding:
“The mission of the program is to provide art that complements public buildings, parks and plazas; creates a sense of place and enhances community identity; improves the design quality of public infrastructure; and contributes to the missions of the county departments where projects are sited.”
