Award created honoring founding member of South Tech

August 26th, 2008

FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Robert S. Howell Spirit of Service Award has been created at the George Snow Scholarship Foundation from SouthTech Academy.

Howell was a founding member of the board and recently passed away.

To honor his memory, Mayra Palacio and Alvincin Louis, the valedictorian and salutatorian at SouthTech each received scholarships at a recent reception of the Foundation held at Florida Atlantic University and attended by SouthTech principal Diane Tidwell, along with Howell’s widow, Audrey, and daughter Linda Hines.

Tidwell also attended a recent scholarship awards ceremony at the Republican Women’s Network Club, where Bryce Rubenfield, one of South Tech’s Culinary Academy students, was presented with a scholarship to Florida Culinary Institute.

“We are very proud of our SouthTech students, creating success stories one student at a time”, said Tidwell.”
