FROM STAFF REPORTS
Boca Raton Fire-Rescue early Monday rescue two occupants of a Glouchester Street home along with two dogs, said Division Chief Bob Nelligan.
Crews were called out about 2:30 a.m., he said, and arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from several vehicles, which were burning under the carport of the residence.
Part of the carport also caught fire, said Nelligan, and, as a result, moderate smoke filled the home where two occupants and 2 dogs were still sleeping.
While crews were extinguishing the blaze outside the home, firefighters searched inside and aroused the two occupants and two dogs. All occupants and pets were assisted to a safe area outside of the home, he said.
The Red Cross was called to the scene and made arrangements for housing for the two occupants. The two dogs were taken to a local animal shelter for safekeeping. Nelligan said the initial damage estimate is about $100,000. He aid the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
