Boca Raton police said they do not suspect foul play in the death of a 71-year-old city resident whose body was found in the surf in the vicinity of 2150 North Ocean Blvd. about 9:30 p.m. Monday.

“There are no signs of trauma or indications of foul play,” said police Public Information Manager Mark C. Economou.

The man was identified as Ernst Kanes of 2727 North Ocean Blvd., Economou said.

Officers said they could find no identification in the area, but located some clothing believed to belong to the victim.  Found, police said, were a black jacket, a brown sweater, a beige U.S. Virgin Islands hat, tan deck shoes and a pair of prescription eye glasses.

Economou said investigators were able to identify the body by Tuesday.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Detective Juan

Carlos Pijuan at 561-338-1387.
