‘City of character’
September 23th, 2008
Vice Mayor Woodie McDuffie proclaimed Delray Beach a “City of Character” at the Sept. 18 City Commission meeting. He issued the proclamation as part of the nation’s “Character Counts” program to promote the core values of character education: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
He said Delray Beach recognizes that character values should be foundations within schools and in the community. Earlier this year, city staff members joined civic, religious and business organizations to explore strategies that would foster a community of character.
