Palm Beach County commissioners have approved a $910,000 contract with with West Construction, Inc. for construction of the South County Regional Park Parcel A Main Access Road Extension and Boat Ramp Facility, off both Glades and Lyons Roads in west Boca Raton.

When completed, the work will include a paved and lighted connecting access road, along with a lake access boat ramp and 14 paved boat trailer parking spaces, commissioners said.

The access road extension and street lighting is intended to promote cross-connection between Parcel A’s passive opportunities and Parcel B’s active facilities, “allowing for easier public access and better staff servicing while improving safety,” said District 5 Commissioners Burt Aaronson.

The lake access boat ramp and parking area, serving the existing 187-acre lake, will accompany the newly constructed dog park, playground and amphitheater facility, Aaronson added.

Money for the work will come from $750,000 in District 5 Transportation Improvement Reserves and $251,000 in the Park Improvement Fund from the Florida Boating Improvement Program park improvement fund. Aaronson said the contract is for 150 calendar days to substantial completion.
