For those who can’t wait for the season, the Cornell Museum of Art & American Culture is celebrating undersea mysteries and beauty with two new exhibits. Paintings beneath the Sea by Jason Mathias and Divers’ Treasure run through August 30.
Native Floridian, Jason Mathias celebrates marine life through his oils, acrylics and watercolors, drawn from underwater digital video he shoots while diving off the coasts of Florida and the Cayman Islands.
Enhancing the undersea theme in the museum is “Divers’ Treasure,” a private collection of treasure and treasured artifacts, by sea and land, from the days of tall sailing galleons and pirate ships.
The Cornell Museum is located at Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach. Museum summer hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10:30-4:30. Admission is $6 general; $4 seniors and students (14-21) and free for ages 13 and under.
