George Snow Scholarship Fund, partners, mark 25 years of giving

The George Snow Scholarship Fund of Boca Raton and its partners provide “educational grants to some of our area’s brightest and most deserving young scholars,” said Tim Snow, fund president.
“These scholarships are four-year commitments and are designed to bridge the gap between other financial aid and what the scholar and families can afford,” he said.
Established in 1982 as a memorial to George Snow, a Boca Raton developer who lost his life in a helicopter accident in 1980, the fund has announced its 2008 winners, marking its 25th year of giving.
Since its inception, said Tim Snow, George’s son, the fund has awarded more than $3.8 million dollars in educational grants to more than 1,035 recipients. He said the organization “aims to grant at least one award to each public high school in Palm Beach County.”
In 2008, $315 was distributed among 64 high school seniors and single parents.
This year’s recipients are: American Association of University Women scholarship to Shaunika Campbell, Keiser University; Ann L. Chew Memorial Scholarship Fund to Alvancin Louis, University of Florida; Arts Scholarship to Timothy Nemzin, Florida State University; Barbara Ann Harrison Memorial Scholarship to Noelle Dibble, Palm Beach Community College and Thais Ronchesel, University of Wisconsin-Madison.
