SFRTA names new governing officers - Jeff Koons & Josephus Eggelletion

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority Governing Board elected Broward County Commissioner Josephus Eggelletion as chair and Palm Beach County Commissioner Jeff Koons as vice chair at its June 27 meeting. The commissioners each serve a one-year term, which began July 1.

Koons is a Palm Beach County commissioner, first elected in November 2002 and re-elected in 2006.  He has served as the chair of the Palm Beach County Metropolitan Planning Organization since 1993 and on the Governing Board of the SFRTA since 2002, serving as chair in 2005-2006. 

Eggelletion, a member of the Broward County Commission since 2000, served as mayor of Broward County in 2007 and its vice mayor in 2006.  Prior to serving on the commission, he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives for eight years.

Mayor Eggelletion has been named one of the most powerful people in South Florida by “South Florida CEO” magazine. He is also featured in the Inaugural Edition of “Who’s Who in Black South Florida” and appears in the “Black Power Issue of Success” magazine.
