JAFCO to sponsor Mother’s Day luncheon May 8

Published May 2nd, 2008

FROM STAFF REPORTS

Planners expect about 300 to attend the Sixth Annual Mother’s Day Luncheon May 8, presented by the South Palm Beach County chapter of Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO). The event will be held at the Addison Reserve in Delray Beach.

JAFCO will honor Debbie Nemiroff and Chris Miller as “Women of the Year” for hard work, dedication and contributions to the organization and the children it cares for.

“These women never say no, and are willing to do anything for JAFCO, and that is why we are honoring them on this special day,” said Heather Goodman, a luncheon co-chair along with Stephanie Owitz Greenberg and Doris Weilheimer.

The day of fun, prizes and shopping will benefit the abused, neglected and at-risk children of JAFCO.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase a candle for the candle lighting ceremony to honor or remember a special person who has touched their lives.

“Our annual Mother’s Day luncheon is an event that has grown bigger and better every year,” said Elise Repath, president of the South Palm Beach County chapter.

“For the past few years, this event has been selling out, thanks to the diligence and creativity of our wonderful chairs and committee.”

“We are grateful to Saks Fifth Avenue for providing us with this year’s men’s and women’s fashion show and to our grand benefactors, Phoenix Lodge and Marilyn and Irving Levy for their support of JAFCO.”

For more information or to RSVP, call 561-372-0103. Seating is limited.

JAFCO is a not-for-profit organization that cares for abused, neglected, homeless and at-risk children in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. JAFCO programs provide care to more than 350 children, including foster care and adoption, family preservation, group homes, emergency shelter and mentoring.
