Published May 5th, 2008

FROM STAFF REPORTS

To conclude Small Business Week, the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce will present its 20th Annual Small Business Leader of the Year Award to a GBRCC member during a May 22 luncheon at the Marriott Boca Raton at Boca Center, 5150 Town Center Circle, Boca Raton.

Some 400 business people are expected to join in honoring one of Boca Raton’s most successful small business leaders.

Local business people and media are invited to participate in this post-celebration of Small Business Week and honor Small Business Leaders. Corporate tables that seat 10 ($500) and individual tickets ($50per person) must be purchased in advance, since space is limited. For more information on this annual award and sponsorship opportunities, www.bocaratonchamber.com (events calendar, May 22) and download the sponsorship form.

The luncheon’s business leader sponsors are Office Depot Foundation and Woolbright Development, Inc., and the premier sponsors are ADT, Balfour Beatty Construction, Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP and Tyco Safety Products. This year’s keynote speaker will be the 2007 Small Business Leader of the Year award recipient, Chuck Stout, partner and director of employee benefits and financial services, for Meridian Insurance Group.

The Small Business Leader of the Year luncheon is usually held in conjunction with Small Business Week, but this year it will be held as the finale.

During Small Business Week, entrepreneurs and business people who create goods, services and jobs throughout the nation are celebrated. Approximately 85 percent of the GBRCC’s 1,700 members are small businesses.

Selection criteria is based on demonstrated profitability, major obstacles overcome, major accomplishments achieved, examples of commitment to community involvement, and demonstrated continued growth.
