FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Boca Raton GreenMarket, a staple of the busy winter and spring months in downtown Boca Raton, will be open for one more Saturday – May 12 -- before closing for the summer.
The farmer’s market started more than a decade ago. The Children’s Museum of Boca Raton managed the market this year and its approximately 30 vendors who showed up before sunrise to set up stands for the thousands of customers who visited during the 26 Saturdays of operation.
The market has been held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the southwest parking lot of Royal Palm Place each Saturday starting in November.
“I will personally miss the market until we open again for the new season on Nov. 8,” said Poppi Mercier, executive director of the Children’s Museum. “Boca’s GreenMarket has become THE place to visit on Saturday mornings---- where friends have gathered weekly for a quick cup of fresh coffee, departing with shopping bags filled with the freshest of mostly-local produce---all taking place in an outdoor market setting in the heart of downtown Boca Raton.”
The 2008 fall GreenMarket gets underway for the 12th season on Saturday, Nov. 8, in Royal Palm Place. Several special activities and customer giveaways are planned throughout the five months of operation.
The market is coordinated by the Children’s Museum, with additional sponsorship support from Royal Palm Place, Florida Health and Chiropractic Medicine, Palm Beach County Agricultural Enhancement Committee and “FRESH from FLORIDA,” a promotional campaign of Florida’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs.
