Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach has asked Palm Beach County commissioners for $20,000 to purchase band uniforms.
The nationally known band is seeking to replace its 10-year old uniforms, and has requested and received the funding from the county Recreation Assistance Program (RAP) budget in Commissioner Mary McCarty’s Commission District 4.
Atlantic Community High School is located in a residential, middle class neighborhood, and has an extensive curriculum, which includes the International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Exceptional Student Education (ESE), and Army Junior ROTC. Because of these opportunities, Atlantic was named the 54th best high school in America by Newsweek magazine in 2007.
