Shooting Probed

Boca Raton police are investigating a shooting reported about 2:15 a.m. Saturday on SE 3rd Street.

A police report said officers reported hearing possible gunshots in the downtown area and discovered a shooting had occurred at 75 SE 3rd Street.

The initial investigation indicates that two groups of individuals were involved in a disturbance inside the Aqua Lounge on SE 1st Street, police said. Later, the victim was walking to a vehicle with acquaintances when he was confronted by the suspect and others. The suspect fired at the victim, striking him once in the upper torso.

Police said the injury is not believed to be life threatening.

Carrying Weapon

Boca Raton police arrested a man at the Subway sub shop on West Palmetto Park Road about 6:10 p.m. Jan. 14 for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon (knife). Police said the man drew attention because he was acting suspiciously.

Laptop Taken

Boca Raton police received a report Jan. 14 that a laptop computer was stolen from a medical office on West Glades Road, police said.

Orchids Damaged

A Boca Raton resident told police Jan. 14 that someone vandalized his potted orchids that were hanging in front of his home. The victim told police someone pulled down the plants and threw them on top of the roof. Some of the pots broke, causing about $25 in damage, police said.

Drug Charges

While police were investigating a suspicious incident at a Boca Raton motel, they arrested a suspect for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. He was released to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, said police.

Break Try

A Boca Raton resident told police he was awakened about 1:25 a.m. Jan. 15 to find someone smashing out his living room window. He said the suspect reached in and opened the locking mechanism, but did not actually enter the home, police said.
