Misconduct Probed
Boca Raton police are investigating an allegation of misconduct against one of its officers.
Public Information Officer Sandra Boonenberg said “the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office informed our department that an off-duty Boca Raton police officer was involved in a disturbance at the Porterhouse Bar and Grill, 7050 W. Palmetto Park Road, in unincorporated Palm Beach County” on March 13. The officer, Ross Magedoff, was placed on administrative leave that same day, she said.
“The Boca Raton Police Services Department takes all allegations of officer misconduct seriously and we will conduct a thorough internal investigation into this matter,” said Officer Boonenberg.
Identity Theft
A resident of Miami Gardens told Boca Raton police Feb. 19 that someone stole her identity. The caller said a suspect went into a Boca Raton bank and deposited a fraudulent check into the woman’s account. She then made two withdrawals of $1,900 each.
Harassing Calls
The human resources manager of a Boca Raton company contacted police Feb. 19 to report that a former employee had been calling his cell phone and his office phone, threatening to come to the company and cause a ruckus, said police.
DVD Theft
A woman reportedly stole a number of DVDs from the Publix Supermarket on NE Fifth Avenue about 3:10 p.m. Feb. 19, said police. She left the scene in a gray car, police said.
Home Vandalized
Boca Raton police reported that someone using a black marker vandalized the front door of a local home, police said.
Shoplift Report
Boca Raton police were called to the Dolly Duz shoe store on Glades Road Feb. 19 to investigate a report that several pieces of costume jewelry were stolen by two suspects, a male and a female, police said.
Vehicle Burglarized
A Boca Raton resident told police Feb. 19 that someone burglarized his car, stealing a backpack containing children’s toys and clothing.
