Bank Robbery

Boca Raton police are investigating a bank robbery reported just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, a police spokeswoman said.

Officer Sandra Boonenberg said the heist occurred at the Bank of America on St. Andrews Boulevard.  She said a suspect approached a teller, presented a note and demanded the money.

While the teller was collecting the money the suspect opened a backpack, which contained a small black handgun, Boonenberg said.  The suspect placed the money in the backpack and left the bank in an unknown direction of travel. No one was injured.

Police said the suspect is 30 to 35 years old, 6’3” and 180 pounds, with short dark hair, unshaven and a diamond stud earring in his left ear. He was wearing a white long-sleeve dress shirt, dark tie, grey pants, sunglasses, and carrying a green backpack, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Mynor Cruz at (561) 338-1320.

Auto Burglary

Boca Raton police received a report that a car was damaged in a parking lot on NW Executive Center Drive April 14, police said.  A suspect punched in the driver’s side door lock and stole two laptop computers from the trunk, said police.

Vandal Arrested

Boca Raton police arrested a suspect who was observed spray painting graffiti on a building on North Federal Highway April 15, police said. When the suspect saw officers approach, he tried to flee, according to police, so he was also charged with resisting arrest without violence.  Police said the suspect also admitted to painting a wall of a building on North Dixie Highway. He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
