August 23rd, 2008

FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Golden Bell Education Foundation, a non-profit arm of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, will present grants to local public school during the Golden Bell Breakfast Thursday, Sept. 11, from 7:45 – 9 a.m. at the Marriott Boca Raton at Boca Center, 5150 Town Center Circle, Boca Raton.

This event is sponsored by Regions Bank.

Last year, more than 220 GBRCC members were in attendance to witness the Golden Bell Education Foundation grant 12 local public schools and one scholarship fund totaling nearly $48,000.

Grant recipients included: A.D. Henderson University School, Addison Mizner Elementary School, Boca Raton Elementary School, Calusa Elementary School, Hammock Pointe Elementary School, J.C. Mitchell Elementary School, Verde Elementary School, Waters Edge Elementary School, Boca Raton Middle School, Omni Middle School, Spanish River Community High School, West Boca Raton Community High School and the George Snow Scholarship Fund.

Tickets for the breakfast are $15 (member - online), $30 (member - at the door), $50 non-member, and must be purchased in advance online at http://www.bocaratonchamber.com/ (events calendar).

Most of the money contributed to the Golden Bell Education Foundation is a direct result of proceeds raised through the Splash of Gold Fashion Show. Other funds come from corporate and private contributors.

The Chamber created the Golden Bell Education Foundation in 1991 with the goal of providing grants for innovative educational programs to local schools. Through this foundation, the Chamber has been able to contribute more than $865,000 in cash and in-kind donations to benefit more than 50,000 students in many area schools.
