City golf championships return to Municipal

NEWS STAFF REPORTS

The 2008 City of Boca Raton Junior Golf Championship returns to the Boca Raton Municipal Golf Club Friday.

Boys ages 8-11 tee off on the Executive course with a 10 a.m. shotgun start for the nine-hole tournament.

Boys ages 12-17 compete on the Championship course.

Last year Boca Raton High’s Matt Green won the boys championship.

He will return to defend his title in the 16-17 boys division, along with Boca Raton High teammates Drake Kelso, Ryan Noelka and Michael Burton, who won back-to-back city championships in 2005 and 2006.

Boca Raton residents Carl Case and Michael Jarnott will also compete in the 16-17 division.

Jaye Green, Matt’s sister, will compete in the 16-17 girls division despite being only 14, since there are no other competitors in her age group.

Mitchell Pressel, Danny Johnson and Jared Levy will compete in the 14-15 group, with eight-year-old J.C. Mitchell student Anthony Mutillo and Henderson student Michael Anthony Checo competing in the 12-year-old group.
